Chernobyl Mixing Bundle
Meet Your Instructor - Scott Elliott
I’m Scott from Chernobyl Studios, and I’m just like you: a home studio musician and mixing engineer. From the beginning of my journey, all I ever wanted was to have a big, massive, metal guitar tones and mixes that I could be proud of.
In 2013, I started to study mixing and tone crafting more seriously so I could bring this desire to life. What I didn’t know was that I was venturing into a world of conflicting information and secrecy. Maybe it sounds a bit dramatic, but how many times have you seen a video on YouTube that claimed you could “sound like the pros in minutes,” just to find out they have thousands of dollars in gear and plugins and really didn’t explain anything anyway? These videos never helped me get a better idea of how to create my guitar tones or better mixes.
I wasted money on plugins I didn’t need, followed advice that wasn’t helpful, and made every mistake you can think of multiple times over. 6 years of frustration later and I now know what it takes to create great amazing guitar tones and mixes.
My goal is to sift through the noise, filter out the nonsense, and create content that helps you avoid the years of struggle and frustration that I had to endure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Mixing Your First Metal Song and Mixing Extreme Metal?
Mixing Extreme Metal is an in-depth training series that builds upon the foundation of Mixing Your First Metal Song. The song mixed in Mixing Extreme Metal is much more complex, requiring more work and time that could be a bit overwhelming for somebody just getting started with mixing. Mixing Your First Metal Song is a great way to start growing your skills whereas Mixing Extreme Metal is a great way to hone your skills even further.
What if I don’t have some of the plugins or instruments used in the training?
Not to worry—all session files are included for you, to include bounced tracks of the orchestra in the situation where you aren’t able to replicate the same sounds. Additionally, all MIDI files are made available to you so that you can experiment with different sounds if you would like to do so.
How is the course delivered?
Once you have bought the course, you can stream it all right from our website on our custom platform that lets you keep track of your progress. But if you rather download the videos for viewing later, you can do that too.
Which DAW is used in this training series?
I’m working with Reaper 6 by Cockos and Cubase Pro by Steinberg in these series, but you can follow along in any DAW as the explanations I provide are universal to mixing and are not DAW specific
Can I post my own mix of "The Rotting Sun" on my YouTube or in my portfolio?
Absolutely! There is a small note I ask you to post along with the mix, but there are no restrictions on posting your own mix results anywhere you like, be it your YouTube channel or in your portfolio. Go for it!
