Right away I felt better knowing somebody besides me mixed entire albums in a single session. Alex does a great job articulating why this is a much better and more streamlined way to mix multiple songs than doing the "song-per-session" method. Additionally, I enjoyed learning Alex's personal preferences when dealing with huge trackcounts (150+) and I took some things away that I started to implement in my own sessions. Also, really good job making something out of nothing with that guitar tone, this was a great demonstration of how to make it work even without the DI files--that was good. The most important aspect that I took away was how Alex does his automation and to really get a sense of how his ear works in order to create the best listening experience for the song as possible. There was a lot of automation, but his explainations made sense and every time I do automation now, I keep his methods in mind in order to make the most exciting listening experience I can for the songs I'm working on. Oh and obviously, nice job on the mastering portion, covering both digital and CD--that was particuarly helpful for me as I still get folks that want to have a "CD Master". Definitely a great course to grab so that you can see how all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together. Again, another HUGE benefit of mixing all the songs in a single session. 🤘🏻

Overview

It’s one thing to mix one song… but what about an entire album?

How can you translate EQ, compression, mix balance, and automation into a musical journey?

Alex shows how to keep the rest of the songs in an album in mind when you tackle each song and how to bring out the emotional connections the artist is trying to bring to the listener.

You’ll learn how to make decisions that best shape the vision of the artist and make it as impactful as possible.

This is the only resource we know of that brings you on the inside of mixing an entire album, and you can also download and practice mixing alongside Alex and even post the songs on your own portfolio.

Take Your Mixes from Good to Great

In a vacuum by yourself, you’re going to be able to create a decent sounding mix. But there will always be something missing…

That feeling that your mix is missing something will never go away. You can probably feel it right now.

But what is the secret? What are you meant to do?

The answer is to wield the power of automation.

Alex will show you exactly how to add that polish your mix is missing and create extra tension and excitement with advanced automation techniques.

Create Albums That Stand the Test of Time

New music gets put out everyday. In fact, it’s been like this for decades. While it may be even more true in the digital era, there are still some things that stay the same.

For example, if you want your work to stand the test of time, you need to achieve two very important objectives:

Craft a well-rounded piece of musical art by ensuring the sound is cohesive through the entire album.
Take your listeners on a rollercoaster ride of a musical journey, to the point where they simply MUST finish listening to the album!

Alex will teach you how you can achieve both of these objectives.

Learn the Dark Art of Mastering

You’re probably going to be asked to master what you mix… and these days, there are a lot of mixing techniques that include a mastering chain from the beginning.

That said, being able to put the cap on your mix and provide a master is an essential skill in the modern day of mixing metal.

Alex will take you through the types of plugins you’ll need in order to create a master that will hold its own against any other commercial release.
