Overview

Do you know what happens if your singing techniques are wrong?

A doctor will order you to stay silent as a last ditch effort to save your voice.

This is what happened to Ty Christian, frontman of Lords of The Trident. When this news came, Ty had already been touring and singing in his band for years.

Ty never had any formal voice training. He thought his singing techniques were great.

But he began noticing some problems.

It started taking longer for his voice to heal after a tour and he started to lose notes in his range completely during singing warm ups.

It Took Almost Three Years To Save His Voice

First, he had to be nearly silent for months just to have a chance to save his voice. Barely speaking, and absolutely no singing.

Second, he needed voice lessons to repair his voice. Lastly, he needed to adopt proper singing techniques.

This process took nearly three years.

All because he didn’t know he was singing incorrectly.

If only he learned the right vocal warm up exercises and singing techniques from a trusted coach from the beginning…

I’m not intimated to perform after many bands. But after seeing the Lords of the Trident completely destroy the stage I had to make sure all my stage moves and playing was on point. The amount of energy that comes from the stage when LOtT is infectious. Expect many props, sparks, flames and a singer who seems to be able to command a nation with his voice. 100 percent would recommend.

Lords Of the Trident is beyond entertaining, and one of my favorite bands to play with. Their stage presence is larger than life, Ty's vocal range is killer, and the dual-shred guitar work is the type that will make your jaw hit the floor.

Lords of the Trident bring a ferocious and commanding presence to the stage. With their over the top stage outfits and many epic swords (including one that lights on fire!) you know this band is not only putting their all into their performance night after night but they are having a great time doing it! Aside from the tight musicianship and being the most power metal band on earth, lead vocalist Ty has a voice that soars over the epic leads and brings you to a place beyond these worlds, while also sneaking in some light hearted jokes to give the crowd some laughs. I always enjoy playing alongside Lords of the Trident!

I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if I hadn’t met Adam. He goes above and beyond all expectations of what a voice teacher is and should be. Ever since I started lessons my sophomore year of high school, Adam has always pushed me to do my best and continued to help me improve my vocal and professional skills to a level I never thought I would achieve at the high school level. It’s not only his extensive knowledge and understanding of the voice, but it’s also his awareness of what’s going on in the music and theatre worlds. I really appreciated this when he was helping me prepare for the Jerry Awards, Jimmy Awards, and all of my college auditions. In regards to college auditions, Adam extensively helped me select a well-rounded list of schools to audition for as well as finding the perfect songs for me to sing. The support and training I have received from Adam has helped me become the person and performer I never imagined I’d be. I highly recommend Dr. Shelton, he will definitely be able to help you achieve your goals.

Adam meets you where you are and helps you get where you want to go. He's energetic, thoughtful, passionate and incredibly knowledgeable. His ability to connect the physical properties of the voice to musical theory to practical application is fantastic. Plus, he makes lessons super fun and engaging. I have to admit...I was skeptical of how a 'voice lesson over the internet' would work. But Adam has it down pat. He knows how to modify the instructional approach, adjust expectations and provide clear, thoughtful communication to make sure you're maximizing each lesson. After a few minutes, you forget you're not in-person and it's just another day at the piano together.
